“TTFPP was also one of the transformational moments throughout my 4-year stay. There are still a lot of learnings from the programme that I still apply in my daily life. With my experiences from TTFPP and the general training I received from UDS, it actually made it quite easy for me to switch my current career path, after my national service with CSIR-FRI”

Congratulations Developer Billy Jones!!!

Please read his profile below.

Billy Jones has about 12 years working experience spanning Market and Consumer Research, Brand Development, Brand Management and Brand Communication.
He has spent the last 8 years of his career with Unilever where he has had the opportunity to further accelerate his career and built worth of experiences and competence in Marketing. He is currently the Channel, Communication and Media Manager for Unilever Ghana PLC, driving brand communication and advertising across all media touchpoints for all Unilever brands in Ghana.
Billy has multi country and category experience emanating from the various roles he has handled at Unilever. Before his current role, he was the Brand Development Manager championing innovations and growth for the Unilever Tea business in Africa covering Southern, East and West Africa markets. He was also Consumer and Market Insights (CMI) Manager for Shopping and Ecommerce insights for Africa, Southern, East and West Africa markets. And later became the Consumer and Market Insights Manager for Beauty and Personal Care Category covering Ghana and Nigeria. Before joining Unilever, he worked with some top research firms in Ghana as Research Manager.
He is one of the few that probably benefitted immensely from the growth, support, and opportunities the University offered. He entered first year and became a radio presenter at Radio Grin and stayed on till completion, handling some of the top programs which he really enjoyed. He was the 3rd Speaker of the UDS Youth Parliament and had the honor to serve 2 terms. He was privileged to have the UDS Youth Parliament formally inaugurated by Parliament of Ghana during my first term as Speaker. He led a team of Community Nutrition students, as Editor-in-Chief, to produce the first ever magazine for ASCONS called “The Bell”. Contested for Local NUGS President in his 2nd year and lost and later appointed Chief Justice (Judicial Committee Chairman). With the support of the student leadership across the campuses the following year, he run for General Secretary of the National Union of Ghana Students and won. The University gave a series of life changing experiences that have together molded him into who he is today.
TTFPP was also one of the transformational moments throughout my 4-year stay. There are still a lot of learnings from the programme that I still apply in my daily life. With my experiences from TTFPP and the general training I received from UDS, it actually made it quite easy for me to switch my current career path, after my national service with CSIR-FRI.
He completed UDS in 2009, with BSc Community Nutrition. He also has MBA from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, GIMPA. His passion is being part of the “kitchen staff that identifies the ingredients, mix and cook” the most powerful and iconic brands that have become part of our everyday lives as a people.
