The closing ceremony of the UDS NUGS maiden mentoring program came off on January 28, 2023 at the Central Administration block on the Tamale Campus. The event highlighted the benefits of sharing knowledge with, and listening to accomplished mentors in different fields of study over a period of 4 weeks.

Some of the mentors included the Head University Relations Mr. Abdul-Hayi Moomen as resource person for the Public Speaking Skills Development. A former Upper East Regional Minister Hon. Tangoba Abayage as Mentor and Resource person in the area of Personal Development, Dr Seidu Fiter and Hajia Hikmat Baba Dua for Career Development and, Leadership and Governance respectively.

The closing ceremony had in attendance, the Dean of Students Affairs of the University, Dr Musah Alhassan, the Founder and Executive lead of the League of Young Female Leaders Hajia Hikmat Baba Dua who chaired the event.

Also present were the Central SRC President Mr. Musah Abdul-Mugis and his Vice, Central NUGS President Ms. Sa-eedatu Imoro and her P.R.O, the Tamale campus WOCOM Ms. Niamatu Alhassan, former Central NUGS President Mr. Karim Yussif Weibadua, SRC President for Kpembe NTC among a host of other student leaders and mentees. Participants were awarded with certificates.

Citations of honor were presented to the Mentors and Coordinators including Musah Abdul-Razak (Treasurer), Awini Zakari Hafisu (Organizer), Ramadan Ibrahim (Secretary), Ms. Avoka Alberta Wuntima (President) and Razzaq Akeem (Director of Communications) for the roles they played in making the programme a success.

The mentees expressed their profound gratitude to the mentors for the great impact and the NUGS Executives for the opportunity given them. They also registered the need for more of such programs to be organized by the local NUGS.

Mr. Abdul-Hayi Moomen in his address mentioned the need for students to protect and project the good reputation of the University at all times. He also invited students to actively get involved when the proposed UDSTV eventually kicks off.

Hajia Hikmat Baba Dua expressed her delight in the zeal and zest shown by Mentees during the month-long mentorship programme. She encouraged Mentees to build better and stronger relationships with not only mentors, but also fellow mentees.

The local NUGS President Ms. Avoka Alberta Wuntima on behalf of her team acknowledged and lauded everyone for their participation and support to making the program a success.
