The Student’s Representative Council (SRC) of the Tamale Campus of the University for Development Studies and National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) on Friday, August 26th 2022, at the Dr. Andani Andan Academic Board Chamber, successfully organized a handing over ceremony for the newly elected executives for the 2022/2023 academic year. The Judicial board Chair (JBC) Mr. Zakaria Mustapha administered the oath of office for the 2022/2023 executives.

The outgoing executives in a colorful event, handed over their respective files and regalia to the incoming executives.
In his address, the outgone SRC president, Mr. Magnus Dogoli Zolideme, recounted achievements his administration had chalked up despite some few challenges. He thanked the executives he worked with for their immense support and wished the incoming executives well in their endeavors.

He advised that, the path they had chosen for themselves is full of turbulence yet, with dedications, discipline and consultation with the past executives, success is inevitable.

According to him, leadership is like a relay race, adding that the SRC under his leadership had done what they could to support the welfare of students. He said the ball is now in the court of the current executives to take on the baton to the promised land.

He appealed to the new executives to continue with the initiatives his administration started. He urged them not to listen to naysayers but instead, pay attention to those who criticize them constructively.

SRC President, Mr. Yarfoh Anyawen Kelvi delivering his acceptance speech

The President of SRC, Mr. Yarfoh Anyawen Kelvin in his acceptance speech, expressed his appreciation to the entire student body for the confidence reposed in him, his administration and promised to live up to students” expectations. He expressed gratitude to the Almighty God as well as his predecessors for raising the bar high and promised to set the bar even higher.

Chairing the ceremony was Professor. Paul Aryee, Vice-Dean of Students, Tamale Campus, who was flanked by Mr. Abdul-Hayi Moomen; Head of University Relations and Prof. Baba Sulemana Mohammed Dean of School of Pharmacy and some former SRC presidents.

The Vice-Dean of Students, Prof. Paul Aryee reiterated the need for effective communication between the Students Council and management. He noted that, without effective communication, between management and students, not much can be achieved.

Prof. Baba Sulemana Mohammed Dean of School of Pharmacy called on the entire student body to rally behind the executives to execute their mandate successfully. He admonished student. leaders to see this opportunity given them as a stepping stone for national leadership.

Adding his voice to the call for SRC to liaise with management, Mr Abudul-Hayi Moomen the head of the University Relations urged student leaders to collaborate with his office since management exists to serve the needs of students who are the primary shareholders of the University.

He expressed his readiness to work with SRC/NUGS to raise high the banner of the university. He urged student leaders to live lives worthy of emulation.
