Dr. Nasare’s outstanding PhD thesis in Entomology garnered recognition for its exceptional technical content and precision of presentation. The examiners adjudged it to be of “tremendous quality”. To qualify for this award, a candidate must achieve a minimum grade of B+ for both the thesis and oral presentation, with the thesis submitted before or by the official deadline.

His groundbreaking research delved into the floral phenology of shea trees and explored the role of managed bees (Apis mellifera) in enhancing shea pollination in northern Ghana. His findings revealed regional variations in shea floral phenology and highlighted the positive impact of apiaries on fruit set. Dr. Nasare recommends integrating beekeeping practices in shea parklands to enhance pollination services.

His academic journey began with a BSc. in Renewable Natural Resources (Forestry and Forest Resources Management) from UDS in 2012. He followed this with an MPhil in Environment and Resource Management in 2017 at the same university. Notably, Dr. Nasare participated in the United Nations University Fellowship Programme on Land Restoration and Sustainable Land Management at the Agricultural University of Iceland from March to September 2018. His passion for advanced studies led him to pursue a PhD in Entomology at the University of Cape Coast, which he successfully obtained on January 26, 2024.

In 2012, Dr. Nasare began his academic journey at the University for Development Studies, where he held a number of positions. In the academic year 2012–2013, he completed his National Service as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Forestry and Forest Resources Management. He also volunteered for two academic years as a Research Assistant in the same department. His dedication to the classroom is clear. In February 2018, Dr. Latif Iddrisu Nasare received a formal appointment as an Assistant Lecturer, which was then advanced to Lecturer status in March 2020.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Nasare has demonstrated a profound interest in research, with a focus on Pollination Ecology, Tree Pest, Insect Biodiversity in Savanna Woodlands, Landuse and Insect Biodiversity, Restoration Ecology, and Agroecology. His research has been widely acknowledged, with numerous publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals and presentations at various local and international conferences.

Dr. Nasare actively participates in professional associations, including the International Union for the Study of Social Insects, Society for Ecological Restoration, Ghana Science Association, and the Association of Applied Biologists.

From his humble beginnings as a Teaching Assistant in 2012 to becoming a distinguished lecturer and an award-winning researcher, Dr. Nasare exemplifies the unwavering commitment to academic excellence celebrated at the University for Development Studies.
