The newly inaugurated Governing Council of the University for Development Studies (UDS) comprises 13 members who will oversee the university’s affairs for the next two years.

These members include:

  1. Prof. Al-Hassan Wayo Seini (Chairman)
  2. Prof. Seidu Al-hassan (Vice-Chancellor)
  3. Prof. Edmund Muonir Der (Convocation Professorial)
  4. Dr. Sanatu Mustapha Alidu (Convocation, Non-Professorial)
  5. Dr. Mohammed Mustapha Seidu (Education Commission, NCTE)
  6. Prof. Mamudu Abunga Akudugu (University Teachers Association of Ghana)
  7. Prof. Terry Ansah (Alumni Association)

The remaining members are as follows:

  1. Madam Rukaya Hussein (SRC)
  2. Mr. Abdulai Sherif Bawa (GRASAG)
  3. Mr. Alhassan Issah Dokurugu (CHASS)
  4. Mr. Kwasi Abankwa (President’s Nominee)
  5. Ms. Matilda Awiah Azuimah (President’s Nominee)
  6. Mrs. Shiela Naa Boamah (President’s Nominee).

The Minister of Education (Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum), during the inauguration addressed the Council and praised the University for Development Studies (UDS) for its remarkable progress, which has elevated it to one of the top universities in the country. He also commended the university’s management and the previous council for their efforts in steering UDS toward this enviable direction.

The Minister pledged full support to the Council. Yet, he urged them to overcome past conflicts and obstacles that plagued the University. Their primary goal should be to advance Ghana through education, he emphasized.
